In our society, different efforts within different types of law often converge, and that appears to be the case between business law and immigration law, according to a recent article published by Forbes that describes the potential problems that the soon-to-be-launched immigration crackdown could cause with American farmers.
The article offers some compelling statistics, including the fact that of the estimated one million farm workers in the United States, as many as half of them could face complications in response to this immigration effort. Losing that many workers could cripple some industries and drive up costs that will ultimately pass to the consumer.
“Administration officials said the stepped-up enforcement would begin in 30 days.
“Everyone’s very anxious,” said Paul Schlegel, director of public policy for the American Farm Bureau Federation. “We’re heading into the busiest time of the year for agriculture, so you’re going to see a lot of worry from farmers and employers about how you deal with this.”
