The Greenville City Council denied AnyKind Checks Cashed Inc. the right to stay in business during a public hearing Monday night. An attorney argued that an exception should be made as the business had existed for more than 20 years and was a “mom and pop” shop.
However, it violated a zoning rule that went into effect in 2006. This rule requires check cashing businesses to move outside of commercial areas as soon as their leases expire.
