Excentus Corp, a privately held company, has recently filed a patent infringement suit against Safeway. This patent infringement suit states that Safety wrongly used patents and other Excentus intellectual property in a gasoline based rewards program.
The suit states that Safeway attempted to acquire the patents, but when that failed it began infringing on them without permission.
The program rewards customers who shop at a grocery chain with free gasoline and other perks as part of a loyalty and rewards program.
